Travel through Sweden during the night

Travel while you sleep and wake up energised. With our night trains you can choose to travel seated, in a 6-bunk couchette or in a sleeping compartment. Travelling by night train is both a smart and comfortable way to travel. You whizz through the countryside during the night and reach your final destination just in time for breakfast.

Travel classes on the night train

Travel in a sleeping compartment, couchette or seating carriage. You can share a compartment with others or book a private compartment.

Sovvagnskupé 1 klass

Sleeping compartment 1 class

The compartment has two beds and is private. Pillow, pillowcase, bottom sheet, duvet cover and duvet included. The compartment has shower/WC equipped with towels and soap.

Breakfast is provided for passengers arriving at their destination between 06:30 and 09:00. You pickup your breakfast in the bistro on board. If the bistro is closed (or if the train doesn't have a bistro) your breakfast will be provided at a local hotel och café. You can find a list of which destinations this applies to here.

Your 1 class ticket also gives you access to SJ Lounge in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, before and after the journey.

Sovvagnskupé 2 klass

Sleeping compartment 2 class

The compartment has three ready-made beds, each with a pillow, pillowcase, bottom sheet, duvet cover, duvet/blanket and towel. During the day, the middle bed is folded down to form a sofa together with the bottom bed.

The compartment has two luggage racks. Skis and other bulky luggage can be stowed under the bottom bed.

There is a hand basin in the compartment. Two communal WCs and a shower are located in the corridor.

Choose between ladies or gents compartments.

Liggvagn 2 klass

Couchette 2 class

The compartment has six bunks. You make your bed with the blanket, pillow and sheet provided. The middle bunks are folded down during the day to provide comfortable seating.

Sittvagn 2 klass

Seating carriage 2 class

Similar level of comfort as the seats found on our day trains. WCs and stowage areas in the corridor.

Night trains to and from Jämtland

We have daily departures to/from Jämtland. The trains stops at  the popular mountain resorts Åre and Duved.

Night train Gothenburg/Stockholm-Åre-Duved

Train 74 departs Gothenburg at 19:29 and arrives in Östersund at 06:48, in Åre at 09:21 and in Duved at 09:39. Train 71 departs Stockholm at 22:55 and then connects to train 74.

Train 71 departs Duved at 19:03, departs Åre at 19:32 and departs Östersund at 21:01. The train arrives in Stockholm at 05:15 (you can wait to disembark until 07:00) and in Gothenburg at 08:50 (08:10 during weekends).

Night trains to and from från Umeå

We have daily departures to/from Umeå.

Night train Gothenburg/Stockholm-Umeå

Train 74 departs Gothenburg at 19:29 and arrives in Umeå at 08:05. Train 70 departs Stockholm at 22:55 and then connects to train 74.

Train 77 departs Umeå at 19:38 and arrives in Stockholm at 05:15 (you can wait to disembark until 07:00) and in Gothenburg at 08:50 (08:10 during weekends).

Night trains between Stockholm and Malmö

We have daily departures to/from Malmö, with the exception of some Saturdays.

Night train Stockholm-Malmö

Train 1 departs Stockholm at 23:09 and arrives in Malmö at 06:14 (you can wait to disembark until 07:00).

Train 2 departs Malmö at 22:32 and arrives in Stockholm at 05:48 (you can wait to disembark until 07:00).

There is no onboard bistro on the night train to/from Malmö.
