On 1 September, the first SJ EuroNight train departs for Hamburg.
In order for trains to operate in more than one European country, all carriages must be approved for international traffic. SJ EuroNight has been approved in Sweden and Germany, but we are still awaiting approval in Denmark.
SJ, the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority and the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) are working hard to ensure we receive the final approvals as soon as possible.
How am I affected if I have a journey booked to or from Hamburg?
The trains will depart as planned but will only consist of a few couchette carriages and no sleeping compartment carriages or seating carriages. This means that we are forced to cancel a number of booked tickets and that we will only offer refreshments on board in the form of snacks and beverages. See menu here.
If your journey is cancelled, we will contact you via SMS at least one week before your planned departure with information about the cancellation and compensation. You do not need to contact SJ Customer service on your own.
In the event of cancellation, you will receive a full refund, including any return journey with SJ EuroNight. You will also be offered a free round trip on the night train to Hamburg, which you can book up to and including 1 May 2023.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.
