Scheduled track work maintenance during 2020

Here is a list of upcoming track works that affect SJ's traffic. The information below if preliminary, the exact effect on these departures is determined shortly before we make tickets available for booking. Go to sj.se and search for your journey to see the updated timetable.

Northern Sweden

  • Avesta Krylbo–Borlänge

Linje: Stockholm–Dalarna.

Period: 10 augusti–13 september 2020.

Påverkan: Flertalet tåg kommer ersättas med buss mellan Avesta Krylbo och Borlänge/Falun. Vissa tåg går en annan väg. 

 

  • Kiruna–Gällivare 

Line: Narvik/Luleå–Stockholm(–Gothenburg).

Period: 17 August–13 September 2020 and 20–21 September 2020.

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus.

 

  • Ånge–Gävle 

Line: Umeå–Sundsvall–Stockholm, Stockholm–Östersund  and Gävle–Stockholm–Linköping.

Period: 31 August–4 September 2020 (daytime).

Effect: Trains will be cancelled and travellers are referred to X-trafik. Trains to/from Östersund will take a different route. 

 

  • Umeå–Örnsköldsvik 

Line: Umeå–Sundsvall–Stockholm.

Period: 31 August–4 September 2020 (daytime), 5 September 2020 (evening), 6 September 2020 (daytime) and 3–4 October 2020 (nighttime).

Effect: Trains will be cancelled. 

 

  • Avesta Krylbo

Line: Stockholm–Östersund and Stockholm–Falun.

Period: 6 September 2020 (nighttime) and 4 October 2020 (nighttime).

Effect: Trains will take a different route.

 

  • Boden–Luleå 

Line: Narvik/Luleå–Stockholm(–Gothenburg).

Period: 12–13 September 2020.

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus. The train will consist only of seating carriages for part of the journey.

 

  • Älvsbyn–Bastuträsk

Line: Narvik/Luleå–Stockholm(–Gothenburg).

Period: 14–18 September 2020.

Effect: The train will consist only of seating carriages for part of the journey.

 

  • Hällnäs–Vännäs 

Line: Narvik/Luleå–Stockholm(–Gothenburg).

Period: 19–23 September 2020 (nighttime) and 27 September–1 October 2020 (nighttime).

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus or take a different route. The train will consist only of seating carriages for part of the journey.

 

  • Abisko–Kiruna 

Line: Narvik/Luleå–Stockholm(–Gothenburg).

Period: 20–24 September 2020.

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus.

 

  • Umeå 

Line: Umeå–Sundsvall–Stockholm and Narvik/Luleå–Stockholm(–Gothenburg).

Period: 27 September 2020 (nighttime) and 6–9 November 2020.

Effect: Trains will take a different route or will be cancelled. 

 

  • Storlien–Bräcke

Line: Östersund–Stockholm.

Period: 12–16 October 2020 (daytime) and 15–19 October 2020.

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus between Duved and Östersund.

 

  • Ånge 

Line: Umeå–Sundsvall–Stockholm.

Period: 17–18 October 2020 (daytime).

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus. 

 

  • Ånge–Sundsvall

Line: Stockholm–Östersund.

Period: 19 October 2020 and 21–23 October 2020 (daytime).

Effect: Trains will take a different route.

 

  • Västeraspby–Sundsvall 

Lin: Narvik/Luleå–Stockholm(–Gothenburg).

Period: 19–20 October 2020

Effect: Trains will take a different route.

 

  • Sundsvall 

Line: Umeå–Sundsvall–Stockholm and Gävle–Stockholm–Linköping.

Period: 26–28 October 2020 (daytime), 29 October–1 November 2020, 2–6 November 2020 (daytime), 9–13 November 2020 (daytime), 16–20 November 2020 (daytime) and 23–27 November 2020 (daytime).

Effect: Trains will be cancelled, travellers are referred to X-trafik.

 

  • Sundsvall–Gävle 

Line: Umeå–Sundsvall–Stockholm and Gävle–Stockholm–Linköping.

Period: 26–30 October 2020 (daytime).

Effect: Trains will be cancelled, travellers are referred to X-trafik. 

 

  • Sundsvall–Hudiksvall 

Line: Narvik/Luleå–Stockholm(–Gothenburg).

Period: 15–20 October 2020 and 29 October–1 November 2020

Effect: Trains will take a different route and will be replaced by buses Vännäs–Umeå.

 

  • Umeå–Sundsvall 

Line: Umeå–Sundsvall–Stockholm and Narvik/Luleå–Stockholm(–Gothenburg).

Period: 7–9 November 2020.

Effect: Trains will take a different route or will be cancelled. 

 

Eastern Sweden

  • Stockholm Central–Stockholm Södra ("Wasp Waist")

Line: All lines that traffic the stretch Stockholm–Flemingsberg–Södertälje Syd–Katrineholm–Hallsberg.

Period: 17–18 October 2020.

Effect: No trains will be able to traffic the railway between Stockholm Central and Stockholm Södra. Trains will instead depart from and arrive at Stockholm Södra or Flemingsberg. Passengers wishing to travel to the city centre are asked to take the SL commuter trains to Stockholm City. This requires a valid SL ticket.

 

  • Katrineholm–Norrköping

Line: Stockholm–Gothenburg, Stockholm–Malmö–Copenhagen, Stockholm–Nyköping–Norrköping and Sala–Linköping.

Period: 27 October–4 November 2020, 13–15 November 2020 and 20–22 November 2020.

Effect: Trains will take a different route, will be replaced by bus or will be cancelled.

 

  • Bålsta–Sundbyberg

Line: Stockholm–Västerås–Örebro(–Gothenburg).

Period: 30 October–1 November 2020.

Effect: Trains will terminate and start in Bålsta. Replacement buses will take travellers to/from Stockholm Cityterminal.

 

  • Flemingsberg–Järna

Line: All lines that traffic Stockholm–Flemingsberg–Södertälje Syd–Katrineholm.

Period: 5 December 2020 (nighttime).

Effect: Trains will take a different route. Regional trains will be replaced by bus or will be cancelled.

 

  • Stockholm–Märsta/Arlanda

Line: Stockholm–Uppsala.

Period: 6 December 2020 (nighttime).

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus or will be cancelled. 

 

Western Sweden

  • Kristinehamn–Karlstad

Line: Stockholm–Karlstad–Oslo.

Period: 17 August–29 October 2020 (daytime), 30 October–1 November 2020 and 9 November–6 December 2020 (daytime).

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus or will be cancelled.

 

  • Öxnered–Gothenburg

Line: Karlstad–Gothenburg.

Period: 4 September 2020 (daytime).

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus or will be cancelled.

 

  • Arvika–Oslo

Line: Stockholm–Karlstad–Oslo.

Period: 5–6 September 2020, 3–4 October 2020, 17–18 October 2020, 31 October–1 November 2020, 14–15 November 2020 and 28–29 November 2020.

  • Skövde–Falköping

Line: Stockholm–Gothenburg.

Period: 11–14 September 2020 (nighttime).

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus or will be cancelled.

Period: 15 September 2020 (nighttime), 29 September 2020 (nighttime) and 13 October 2020 (nighttime).

  • Mass–Halden

Line: Oslo–Gothenburg.

Period: 19–20 September 2020.

Effect: Trains will be replaced by bus or will be cancelled.

 

  • Fredrikstad–Halden

Line: Oslo–Gothenburg.

Period: 21 September 2020 (daytime), 24–25 September 2020 (daytime) and 1–2 October 2020 (daytime).

  • Gothenburg

Line: Karlstad–Gothenburg.
