The environment is important to SJ. But the fact that a train produces minimal emissions is not enough. Our environmental work is constantly being developed.
At SJ, we carry out environmental impact checks on everything from the coffee onboard to the recycling of old rolling stock. Our environmental goals include:
- High energy efficiency
- Minimal air-borne emissions by trains and replacement traffic
- Low environmental impact by goods and services
- Sorting at source and resource conservation
- trained and informed employees
To reduce energy consumption still further, the trains are fitted with electricity meters, and SJ is working to increase the use of regenerative electric brakes.
