Travel with children at hugely discounted rates. Our family offer is available for 2nd Class travel on both day and night trains.
SJ Family offer
SJ Family offer applies to 2nd Class travel and means that a passenger with an adult ticket can bring along max. two children aged max. 15 years as follows:
On InterCity, regional trains and in seating carriages on SJ Night trains:
- Accompanying children pay just the booking fee when travelling together with a passenger with an adult ticket.
On SJ High-speed train:
- Accompanying children pay 15% of the price paid by the adult. Seat included. Small children aged max. 6 years and able to sit in an adult's lap do not require a ticket.
On SJ Night trains:
- Accompanying children pay a fixed fee per reserved berth in couchette/sleeping car.
Youth/student with children as of 4th October
SJ Family offer applies to 2nd Class travel and means that a passenger with a youth/student ticket can bring along max. two children aged max. 6 years as follows:
On InterCity, regional trains and in seating carriages on SJ Night trains:
- Accompanying children pay just the booking fee when travelling together with a passenger with a youth/student ticket.
On SJ High-speed train:
- Accompanying children aged 0-6 years who wish to have a seat pay 15% of the price paid by the adult. Small children aged max. 6 years and able to sit in a youth/student's lap do not require a ticket.
On SJ Night trains:
- Accompanying children pay a fixed fee per reserved berth in couchette/sleeping car. Children aged max. 6 years can also travel free of charge when sharing a berth with an accompanying youth/student or another child.
Unaccompanied children
An unaccompanied child pays youth prices. If two or more children are travelling together unaccompanied, they can buy one adult ticket and thereby bring along up to two children in accordance with the SJ Family offer.
Annual pass/period passes with children
Children who are accompanying passengers with an annual pass/period pass pay 15% of the price an adult without a pass would have paid. Passengers are therefore advised to consider which flexibility level they require the child to have, as that choice will impact the price.
Resplus
If the journey involves more train operators than just SJ, e.g. Veolia (operating routes in Jämtland, for example) or DSB First (operating routes in Skåne, for example), one booking fee per child/leg of the journey will be charged.
*The child's age must be verified with ID if required.
