Bring your bike onboard this summer!
If you're travelling by train this summer, you can bring your bike onboard. This service is available on a number of different departures and train types.
The summer promotion is valid for the period from May 28th to August 31th. We cooperate with the firm BestXpress and the price for a one-way ticket is 149 SEK per bicycle. A bicycle cart counts as one bicycle. During the summer of 2010, any traveler can bring with him/her a maximum of four bikes.
Hand in your bicycle, with no luggage or basket, to BestXpress no later than 30 minutes before the train departs (if no other time is specified) and they will load the bicycle onto the train. They will also unload the bicycle at your destination.
Don't forget that...
- Bicycles and carts must be entirely without luggage.
- A bicycle ticket must be purchased no later than midnight on the day before the departure.
- A maximum of four bicycles can be loaded onto each train (unless otherwise specified).
- You travel on the same train as the bicycle is being transported on.
You can transport your bike to/from Alvesta, Malmö Syd/Svågertorp (only to Malmö Syd/Svågertorp), Uddevalla, Borås, Norrköping, Uppsala, Värnamo, Nässjö, Göteborg, Herrljunga, Stockholm, Västerås, Åre, Trollhättan, Katrineholm and Malmö this summer.

Purchasing tickets
You can purchase your ticket and bicycle ticket by calling +46 771 75 75 75 and at any SJ Travel Office (SJ Resebutik). A bicycle ticket costs SEK 149 per bicycle. A bicycle cart counts as one bicycle. Every passenger may transport a maximum of four bicycles during the summer 2010.
Trial period for future bike solutions
As an ever-increasing number of people are expressing interest in bringing their bicycle onboard the train, we have decided to extend our summer offer to include a trial period this autumn. The idea is that you, the passenger, will load and unload your bicycle yourself.
