Easy to travel

SJ gives our physically impaired passengers a helping hand to make the journey easier.

Temporary changes for passengers in wheelchair

SJ are doing a security review of the wheelchair lifts on the X 2000 trains. Meanwhile, passengers in wheelchair will be helped on board by mobile lifts or, alternatively, be taken by taxi.

Passengers in wheelchair who wants to make reservations for X 2000 trains, phone SJ on +46 771-75 75 99. touch tone 7. These reservations can not be made here on our web site.

Day trains

There are wheelchair lifts on all X 2000 trains. The same is true for most InterCity trains. Different trains have different measurement limitations. For accurate information on each train type, please contact SJ Kundtjänst (SJ Customer Services) on +46 771-75 75 99 (touchtone 1).

Once onboard, you will either find a wheelchair place with floor rails (to which your own wheelchair can be fixed) or a Disabled seat consisting of a comfortable chair (with raiseable arms) and a table. All seats are near a door and next to a spacious toilet with no threshold.

Unfortunately, we have not yet arranged wheelchair seating in our 1 klass (First Class) carriages on the X 2000. You can, however, travel with a First Class ticket in Standard Class and be served food, drinks, and receive all the other services offered to our First Class passengers.

Night trains

To make life a little easier for our wheelchair passengers, the night trains have a special Disabled compartment that is more spacious than our regular ones. This compartment, designed for one or two people, contains a toilet and a shower with a seat. The bed is made and ready for use.

Some important dimensions for our wheelchair passengers:

The door to the train carriage is 79 cm wide
The door to the Disabled compartment is 72 cm wide
The height from the floor to the lowest bed is 20 cm

Please book the Disabled compartment through SJ Kundtjänst (Customer Services) on +46 771-75 75 99 (touchtone 1).
